Eh. How many more bands are going to cover Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know” song?! I was over it when it first came out and it caught like wildfire across every mainstream radio station in the country. Next thing you know it’s in restauraunts, at the gym and in your nightmares. It’s not going away, and with different people doing their own renditions, it wont die.

Sigur Ros fans will get a chance to listen to the band’s newest album Valtari tonight (May 17th) at 7PM via their website. The kicker, it’s only going to be available for one hour in which the band has aptly named “Valtari Hour.”
Stream the album tonight over at www.sigur-ros.co.uk/
If you’ve never heard of Donna Summer, you’ve probably heard one of her iconic Disco songs playing on the radio, on a movie soundtrack or one of your favorite bands covering and or sampling her music. Sadly, the singer passed away today at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer. Named “The Queen of Disco,” Summer had hits that spanned almost a 40 year career with singles such as “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls,” “No More Tears (Enough is Enough)”, “She Works Hard For the Money,” and many more.

Who’s excited for Rock the Bells 2012?!?! The touring Rap and Hip-Hop festival is back with a strock kick in the face with appearances by Missy Elliott and Timbaland, a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony reunion and a bunch of other top notch performers. This year, the festival will span over a two day period and takes place on August 18th and 19th at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino. Tickets go on pre-sale this Friday, May 18th and to the general public on Saturday, May 19th.

When you attend a live concert, you always take something from it with you—usually ticket stubs, new memories and minimal bruises, at least in my experience—but sometimes you get more than that out of it: new friends, a defining moment, or even a t-shirt. A first time Dum Dum Girls concert-goer, I didn’t know what I was going to get from them. As one of the few who attended the first night of their tour at the Observatory, here’s what I got: a) they definitely need a drum riser so the audience could better see Sandy, and b) they’re an insanely talented (and BEAUTIFUL) foursome of musicians donned in black that would make Johnny Cash proud.

Not only are Fitz and the Tantrums some of the coolest people you could meet- they’re also very generous. Why? Because they are giving their fans a new EP featuring four live tracks and fifth remix song absolutely FREE! To download, head over to their website at www.fitzandthetantrums.com. In order to download, you’ll have to provide a legitimate e-mail address where they will e-mail you the link. Sounds like a good trade for free music.

Legendary punk rockers, X, will be playing two specials dates at The Observatory in Santa Ana on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. See them perform “Los Angeles,” “Breathless,” “Real Child of Hell” and more.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10AM for $25 and it’s all ages.

Alex’s Bar announced this afternoon on their Facebook page that on June 10th, the Eagles of Death Metal are going to grace the small venue in Long Beach. Tickets go on sale today (yep, today) at 5PM for $15 and you can bet your ass they will sell out fast! As with any shows here, it’s strictly 21+, sorry kiddies.

Wait, what?!?! Didn’t we just get back from Coachella 2012?! I’m so confused… did I quantum leap?
That’s right. Tickets for the fest in the desert go on sale this Thursday. Coachella 2013 will be held on two consecutive weekends once again – Apr. 12th – 14th and Apr. 19th – 21st, 2013 and you can snag your tickets this week. It would not be any surprise if this fest sold out way before 2013 considering Coachella’s reputation. Dare to blindly buy? Looks like Goldenvoice is on their toes and getting a head start on preparations for next year. Not a bad idea considering the minor contract delays they experienced with Indio this Spring.
